-CONCRETE QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEERS
A company is working on The Panama Canal Third Set of Locks Project, which will increase the transit capacity of the Canal to meet cargo-carrying demand along major international maritime trade routes. Our responsibilities on this project as the Designer of Record have created the immediate need for CONCRETE QUALITY ASSURANCE ENGINEERS to support our Design Team. Two will be located in our Cocoli offices adjacent to the Pacific Third Set of Locks and two will be at the Atlantic Third Set of Locks adjacent to the Gatun Locks.
Main Objective:
The position requires full time on site Quality Assurance review of the concrete placement for the
permanent Lock Structures to support the Design-Build Contractor,
in:
Implementing the design intent as presented in the Construction Documents.
Conforming the design to the actual field conditions encountered.
The position will require a detailed knowledge of Quality Management Procedures
specifically Quality Control procedures for concrete structures, concrete placement
processes, reinforcement drawings, lift drawings and concrete embedments.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform on site Quality Assurance review of concrete placement and associated activities
to confirm that the Quality Control processes are conducted in conformance with
the Employer’s Requirements (ER).
Perform review and surveillance of the concrete placement activities to confirm that the
processes meet the quality requirements.
Facilitate continual improvement and establish clear lines of communication, particularly
between the Contractor´s field staff and the design team.
Assist in responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) from the field.
Assist in the review of the Contractor´s Shop Drawings for conformance to the design
documents.
Assist in the incorporation of the Contractor´s mark ups of field changes into Record
Drawings
Compliance with company Quality Management policies and procedures.
Preparation of reports, forms and other QA documents.
Work in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following
company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Key Skills:
The individual must be self-motivated and be able to work individually or in group settings.
Requires 5 yrs of concrete quality assurance experience.
Knowledge of AutoCAD, Microstation Civil 3-D an advantage.
Must have basic demonstrable skills in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Adobe Acrobat
8.0.
Ability to organize and coordinate group work efforts required.
Qualifications:
Educational Requirements: Professional Civil Engineer.
Capable in English with ability to speak, interpret and write.
Minimum field and/or concrete structure design experience of 5 years.
Must be Panamanian citizen
Must be able to provide verifiable references.

-STRUCTURAL ENGINEER

STRUCTURAL ENGINEERS to support our design team in our COCOLI OFFICES adjacent to the
pacific third set of locks.
Main Objective:
The position requires review of design working drawings, shop drawings and lift drawings, collection
and verification of information. A detailed knowledge of ACI-318 as well as the Panamanian building
code. Knowledge of AutoCAD and common software such as Excel, Word, and Acrobat 8.0 is a
basic requirement.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Review structural design drawings.
• Review of CAD drawings.
• Work with engineers to verify completeness of design.
• Review of construction reinforcement shop drawings.
• Review of construction lift drawings.
• Coordination of work activities with other discipline designers.
• Compliance with company policies and procedures to ensure quality control.
• Reproduction of documents and assembly of reports.
• Work in a manner to ensure personal safety and that of fellow employees by following
company health and safety guidelines and policies.
Key Skills:
• The individual must be self-motivated and be able to work individually or in-group settings.
• Requires 5 years experience of structural analysis, design and revision of concrete and rebar
drawings.
• Requires 2 years experience with AutoCAD and office package.
Qualifications:
• Educational Requirements: Professional Civil Engineer.
• Capable in English with ability to speak, interpret and write.
• Must have basic demonstrable skills in Word and Excel
• Minimum field and/or structural design experience of 5 years.
• Must be able to provide verifiable references.
